Aussie Skate Aussie Skate is a unique National Learn To Skate Program. The program is aimed at teaching you to skate in a fun, friendly environment! The program is aimed at teaching your child basic skating skills, preparing them to enter into our club sports such as ice hockey or figure skating. Consisting of four levels, each session of the program is led by at least one accredited coach with first aid experience. There are Aussie Skate sessions on Tuesday and Saturday, your child can come to one or both sessions on a weekly basis. Each skater starts in the basic level where they learn the basic skills of falling safely and getting back up without their hands touching the ice, they then advance through various elements which include basic skating skills in level 1, up to simple jumps and spins in levels 2,3, and 4. Your child will be assessed by an accredited coach on a weekly basis which allows them to complete the program at their own pace. Your child will also be given badges as they pass each level. We try to keep a healthy mix of fun and learning in our Aussie Skate sessions. Sessions generally consist of a group warm up to start, then a lesson followed by group activities as a warm down, which may consist of show practice or competition practice. We will be having either a mini show or an Aussie Skate competition for friends and family at the end of each school term. The kids will spend time preparing for these events at the end of each Aussie Skate session.
